Lemon Ginger Iced Tea

Lemon Ginger Iced Tea

There’s nothing better than a glass of cold, refreshing lemon ginger iced tea in the summer. You’ll love the taste of this recipe, which is made with fresh lemons and ginger. During the summer, this is the perfect beverage to sip.

What kind of tea do you like better, sweet or unsweet? Because I’m from the north, I prefer unsweetened tea most of the time, but lemon sweet tea is refreshing every now and then.

I was unable to withstand the sweetness of “sweet tea” the very first time I tried it in North Carolina. It can be made like a combination of lemonade and tea, sweet and syrupy, with or without lemon, depending on your preference.

As a child, I grew up drinking unsweetened, no lemon, plain iced tea, so you can imagine my surprise when I drank that Arnold Palmer-like glass of “sweet tea” in North Carolina. As time has gone by, however, I have become accustomed to really enjoying the lemon and just a bit of sweetness.

About Lemon Ginger Iced Tea:

  • Flavor: For a delicious, fresh glass of tea, combine fresh lemon and ginger with this ginger cold tea recipe. Ginger and lemon pair beautifully together to bring a refreshing, thirst-quenching taste. Adding sugar is the perfect drink-heaven match!
  • Method: Iced tea is made with boiling water as the base. Alternatively, you can use a tea kettle or the stovetop to do that. I usually make mine in the microwave.

What are the health benefits of Lemon Ginger Iced Tea?

That’s right! Ginger is great for digestive health and upset stomachs, but lemon itself has nutritional value. There is even evidence that lemon ginger tea can reduce inflammation and headache pain due to its high vitamin C content.

Drinking this tea before bed can be calming if you use decaffeinated tea.

Ingredients

  • 5-7 black tea bags more or less depending on how strong you like your tea
  • 3 cups water
  • 2 lemons sliced
  • 1 small 1″ piece of ginger-root peeled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar to taste
  • additional water
  • ice

How to Make Lemon Ginger Iced Tea

  1. In a microwave safe bowl or glass measuring cup, microwave the 3 cups water and tea bags on high for about 3-4 minutes or until the water is nearly boiling.
  2. Add the sliced lemons and ginger. Let steep until the water returns to room temperature.
  3. Add ice to a pitcher. Pour the tea (through a strainer) into the pitcher. Stir in sugar.
  4. Add fresh lemon slices to the tea pitcher if you’d like and then serve.
